    Hydrant Flushing

    The Athens Fire Department will be flushing and testing hydrants from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday on Richland Avenue.

    Residents may experience discolored water due to iron sediments stirred up from increased flow, but the water remains safe.

    No boil order will be issued, but the city recommends not to wash laundry during these times.

    Mental Health Expo

    Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare (ABH) is hosting a Community Mental Health Expo to celebrate 150 years of serving the mental health needs of Southeastern Ohio. The public is invited to visit the hospital at 100 Hospital Drive in Athens from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

    The Expo will feature speakers, informational displays, a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of the hospital’s treatment mall, food trucks, a patient art show, and more.

    Legion Breakfast

    NELSONVILLE — Breakfast of sausage gravy, biscuits and home fries will be held from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the Nelsonville American Legion Post 229. Eat in or carry out available. For in-town delivery, call (740) 753-9084.

    Ribbon Cutting

    NELSONVILLE — Athens County Job and Family Services will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Athens County Community Cares Resource Center from 8-9 a.m. May 21 at 10 W. Washington St., Nelsonville.
