Man found dead with gunshot wound in Fairfield County
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a 25-year-old man was found dead in a residence with a gunshot wound on Friday. The sheriff's office said deputies were called to the 8000 block of Pleasantville Road in Richland Township on a report of a man who was not breathing.
Severe thunderstorm watch issued for central Ohio
A number of central Ohio counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday afternoon. Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union counties, along with 23 other Ohio counties, are in the watch area. It is set to expire at 8 p.m.

A boy was born April 30, 1902 in the Hocking County village of Murray City to John and Hannah Slater. His parents, born in England, emigrated to the U.S. in search of new opportunities. They settled in Hocking County’s coal mining area where John was a foreman for a coal mining company. The boy, Albert, was one of five children and would become a football player and OSU student.

The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that the following projects are anticipated to affect highways in Hocking County. Outlined work is weather permitting. State Route 328 culvert replacement — A culvert replacement project is taking place on state Route 328 between Vickers Road (Township Road 399) and Moore Road (County Road 333). One lane is closed and traffic is being maintained with temporary signals. The intersection of Vickers Road/state Route 328 is also closed. Estimated completion: Oct. 1 U.S. 33 concrete bridge deck overlay — A concrete bridge deck overlay project is taking place on U.S. 33 between SR 328 and SR 595.
