Southbound I-75 to have just 1 lane this weekend south of Monroe
LA SALLE, Mich. — Southbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane just south of Monroe this weekend while a new traffic pattern is painted on the roadway, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced. I-75 has been reduced to two lanes each way between Dunbar Road and Exit 9 (South Otter Creek Road) for most of the year for reconstruction of the northbound lanes. An additional southbound lane will close at 8 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, MDOT said. This weekend’s work will allow southbound traffic to be restored to its normal configuration after crews shift northbound traffic back to its rebuilt lanes, which started Thursday. Three closed interchange ramps on the northbound side also are reopening, said Aaron Jenkins, a spokesman at the department’s district office in Jackson, Mich. The southbound lanes’ reconstruction will require a similar traffic pattern using the northbound side next year.

TARTA rebrands bus service, discusses rapid transit plans
TARTA Metro will be the new name of Toledo’s bus service starting early next year, making room for a new rapid transit service being implemented by the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority. CEO Laura Koprowski, who has run the transit agency since 2020, said the rebrand aims to make the bus service easier to recognize and more inviting to ride. It will also distinguish the fixed-route bus service from its upcoming bus rapid transit service. “The new name reflects who we are today: a regional transit provider serving northwest Ohio. The name also reflects a fresh, modern approach to public transit designed to appeal to our longtime riders, welcome a new generation of customers, and invite those who are transit-curious to finally give TARTA a try,” Ms. Koprowski said. Bus rapid transit lines are similar to light rail systems, using buses with dedicated lanes, elevated platforms, and more frequent service. The transit authority’s line would run every 15 minutes between Sylvania and Oregon on Monroe Street , which is currently serviced by TARTA’s most popular bus route. Ms. Koprowski said the system would support residents in new housing, attract employers, and encourage restaurants and business to locate nearby, using Indianapolis,
