MILLTOWN, NJ - The Spotswood High School softball team took the field at Borough Park for the Chargers annual night game in Milltown on Tuesday. Spotswood defeated Monroe Township High School 7-4. A six-run third locked down the Chargers' 17th victory of the year. Ava Mormile picked up another win on the mound. Blue Devil Bella Scipioni and Raider Olivia DiSalvo were engaged in a memorable pitching duel in Scotch Plains on April 30 but only one would savor victory while the other would just have to shake her head. With the score tied, 3-3, in the 10th inning, the International Tiebreaker rule was in effect and the Westfield Blue Devils managed to get one across in the top of the inning then Scipioni remained stubborn in the Raider half of the inning to earn her team a 4-3 victory.
Viking Girls, Boys Set Records At Union County Track Relays
WF BOYS – DISC, JAV, 4X16; SPF GIRLS JAV; CR – 4X4, HJ. Numerous meet records were broken by the Union Catholic High School girls and boys, who easily claimed both team titles at the Union County Relays held on May 2-3 at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield. The Viking girls finished with a total of 105, followed by Westfield at 63, Cranford at 50 and Scotch Plains-Fanwood (SPF) at 47. The Viking boys totaled 113, followed by Elizabeth at 85, Westfield at 78, Rahway at 52, SPF at 30 and Cranford at 27.

Rutgers basketball: Top 2025 recruiting target sets commitment date
One of Rutgers basketball’s top targets in the 2025 recruiting class has set a decision date for his commitment. Jaylen Harrell, a four-star prospect from Massachusetts, plans to announce his college destination on Monday, May 27th, according to a report from On3′s Joe Tipton. He will decide between a final group of six schools: the Scarlet Knights, Alabama, Kansas, Providence, Virginia Tech and Xavier.
Rutgers wrestling lands a commitment from Brandon Toranzo
An already strong recruiting class for Rutgers wrestling got another boost with the commitment of Brandon Toranzo this week. Toranzo is a high-level addition for Rutgers who finished off his high school career. He took third-place in the NJSIAA State Championships at 285 pounds for Nutley High School (Nutley, New Jersey). During his run at the state championships, Toranzo defeated two wrestlers who were ranked above him pre-tournament by NJ Wrestle. He also won the Region 3 heavyweight championship this season. Rutgers has five wrestlers in the top 50 in the nation on the FloWrestling Big Board.
