PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Good evening everyone and happy Monday. It was another somewhat gloomy day across the region today, with cloud cover lingering for more portions of the day than not. We’ve got showers and thunderstorms possible late tonight with the passage of a warm front, followed by additional chances for showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon with a cold front working through the region. Once this activity tapers off tomorrow evening, skies are expected to clear out, setting us up for a decent middle of the work week. The nicer weather isn’t expected to last long, with showers and thunderstorms returning to the forecast by late in the day Thursday.

More Sunshine Expected Tuesday, with Changes Likely Later in the Work Week
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Good evening everyone and happy Monday. After a wonderful weekend with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures seen both Saturday and Sunday, nicer weather continued into the new work week today, with high pressure still in control of the region. A low pressure system looms off to the west of the state, but doesn’t make much progress in advancing into the region over the next couple of days. This means a couple more days of decent weather Tuesday and Wednesday, before shower and thunderstorm chances build into the region for the second half of the day Thursday. I’m hopeful we’re back to drier weather for the end of the work week and start of the weekend.

Active weather builds in tonight, with showers and downpours likely overnight. This sets us up for active weather possible again tomorrow, with any sunshine seen acting as instability to leave us with more showers and thunderstorms for the afternoon and evening hours. Showers taper off tomorrow evening, with cloud cover sticking around overnight into Thursday morning. We’ve got nicer weather in store the remainder of the work week, with sunshine returning, and summer like temperatures more likely heading into the weekend.

After sunshine returned to the region today, nicer weather isn’t expected to stick around this week, with shower chances building tomorrow night into Wednesday. The latest computer model runs show a good chance at a soaking rain from this next system, with the threat of additional showers and thunderstorms lingering through the afternoon and evening hours Wednesday. We’re back to nicer weather the latter half of the work week, with sunshine right now looking likely through the weekend.

More Shower Chances Likely For the Weekend, with Below Average Temperatures also in Store
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Good evening everyone and happy Friday. After more sunshine was seen across the region today, high pressure is weakening off to the west of New England. This will allow low pressure to advance eastward tomorrow, bringing unsettled weather to the forecast for the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday likely feature some shower chances, with a better chance of activity Saturday evening into Saturday night. Sunday morning will be the best chance of showers the second half of the weekend, with drier weather looking more likely for the afternoon. High pressure gains control of the region heading into the new work week, meaning more sunshine and mild temperatures returning.

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine (WAGM) - The Maine Potato Blossom Festival is underway in Fort Fairfield, but a stormy forecast forced organizers to make some tough calls. Weather alerts prompted the cancellation of two popular events. Organizers have changed the schedule of events for the Maine Potato Blossom Festival. Some of the events have been cancelled due to the expected storm. Organizers say the top priority is making sure everyone can enjoy the festival safely.

The same can’t be said state-wide, with cloud cover building in downstate, as well as some lighter showers working through this afternoon. This activity remains south of us tonight, with a few fair weather clouds possible building into tomorrow morning. We’ve got another hot and sunny day in store for Wednesday with high pressure still in control of the region. Changes arrive late Wednesday night with a disturbance arriving. This will bring us our next chance at showers and thunderstorms before the end of the work week.
