Southbound I-475 reduced to one lane in Maumee
Emergency bridge repairs that narrowed southbound I-475/U.S. 23 to a single lane south of the Salisbury/Dussel interchange on Monday were expected to take until midday Tuesday at the soonest to be finished, the Ohio Department of Transportation said. Concrete at a joint on the bridge over Monclova Road in Maumee broke up, and cool temperatures meant the repair’s curing time would be longer than normal, said Kelsie Hoagland, a spokesman at ODOT’s district office in Bowling Green. The bridge problem arose in part because of traffic concentrated into two lanes each way on the bridge during freeway reconstruction and widening. The bridge involved is scheduled for replacement next year as part of that project. As of mid-afternoon Monday, southbound freeway traffic was backed up for several miles approaching the bridge.
