Man convicted for role in disappearance, murder of two Toledo teens
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - One of numerous people charged in the death of two missing Toledo teens whose remains were found in a burned-down home was convicted Wednesday. Corbin Gingrich entered a guilty plea in the case on May 1, but because the records are under seal it doesn’t specify whether he pleaded guilty to one or all of the charges against him, or lesser charges. He was initially charged with two counts of murder and two counts of kidnapping in the disappearance and deaths of Ke’Marion Wilder and Kyshawn Pittman, who went missing in December 2022.
Second murder defendant in boys' deaths enters sealed plea
One of four adults alleged to be in the supporting cast for the late 2022 disappearances and deaths of two teenage boys pleaded guilty to undisclosed charges Wednesday morning in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. As was the case with the previous plea in January of co-defendant Cruz Garcia, Corbin Gingrich, 27, of the 500 block of Maumee Avenue made a plea under seal April 25 before Judge Lori Olender. And he entered it on the eve of jury selection for the trial of two other men charged with aggravated murder for the December 2022 kidnappings and deaths of Kyshawn Pittman, 15, and Ke’Marion Wilder, 16. Like three others in the case, Gingrich was indicted last year for two counts apiece of murder and kidnapping, under the apparent theory that he participated in the Dec. 3, 2022 kidnappings that resulted in the boys’ deaths but was not directly involved in killing them.
Resident wants Toledo to address abandoned house filled with tires
Candace Kirchner, of Tracy Road in East Toledo, has complained to the City of Toledo about five abandoned houses in her neighborhood over the years, but not much has changed. One of the abandoned houses at 121 East Florence St. was recently in the news after the Ohio attorney general filed charges against a Toledo couple for illegally transporting and dumping scrap tires in the house. An investigation had determined that more than 2,000 scrap tires had been hauled from Toledo tire dealers without proper state permits and the couple then dumped the tires in their yard. “From my backyard deck, I can see all five abandoned houses. Some are boarded up. The one I call Big Mama is full of hundreds of tires,” Mrs. Kirchner said.
