Mary Sprinkle named to SNHU Dean's List
MANCHESTER, NH — Mary Sprinkle of Elkin has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2024 Dean’s List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer. Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is a private, nonprofit institution with a 91-year history of educating traditional-aged students and working adults. Yadkin budget hearing planned for Thursday
Yadkin County Manager Lisa Hughes will review the 2025 fiscal year budget at a special called meeting on Thursday. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers of the Human Services Building, located at 217 East Willow St., Yadkinville. There are no proposed changes to the county tax rate in the 2025 budget. Beginning at 7:25 there will be a public hearing on the Economic Development Funds Appropriation in the proposed 2025 Budget, followed by a public hearing on the proposed budget. The board is expected to vote on the budget following the public hearing.

Arts council awards nearly $3k in scholarships
The Surry Arts Council recently awarded more than $2,700 in scholarships to Surry County students who are pursuing a college degree in the arts. The scholarship committee which made the awards consisted of Henry Rowe, Kathy Pruett, Jennie Lowry, Sylvia Lowry, and Adam Rudisill.
