Hellertown planners examine new Atiyeh proposal for senior apartments
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Hellertown Planning Commission reviewed a sketch plan by developer Abe Atiyeh on Tuesday night at the administration building. The proposal, offered by Atiyeh's Exchange 21 LLC and slated for 30 Bachman St., calls for 43 apartment units over three stories. The housing would be for older adults. Of the 43 units, 27 would contain one bedroom with the remaining 16 having two bedrooms. The applicant is offering 40 parking spaces in a lower-level parking deck and is proposing to provide a total of 19 trees.

Both lanes of northbound Route 309 were closed Wednesday evening as first responders fought a fully involved vehicle fire between the Souderton and Sellersville exits. Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene at 7 p.m. for a report of a vehicle fire. Arriving crews located a four-door Kia Soul along the right lane near mile marker 21.9 that had caught fire, and quickly worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.
