Cicada numbers expected to surge this summer in Southeast Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE — Within the next few weeks, Southeastern Wisconsin will witness cicadas take over once the soil temperatures reach the mid- to upper 60s. "These are all the Brood 13 periodical cicadas that we get up here in Wisconsin," said Nick Dowdy, the head of zoology at the Milwaukee Public Museum.
Cambridge track: Ava Williams wins 300 hurdles at conference championships
The Cambridge track and field team won one event at the Capitol Conference Championships at Lake Mills High School on Tuesday, May 14. For the girls, sophomore Ava Williams won the 300-meter hurdles in 47.78 seconds. Also in the 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Malina Schneider (49.56) placed third. The 4x100 relay team of senior Mya Lehmann, junior Katherine Brown, sophomore Tessa Schmude and freshman Emillie Behm ran second at 53.13 seconds. ...

BELLEVILLE — Lake Mills’ boys track and field team tied for fourth place at Friday’s Raider Invitational held at Belleville High School. The L-Cats scored 65 points. The 3,200-meter relay team of senior Jack Phillips, sophomore Max Springer, junior Braxton Walter and junior Saul Lopez won by 15 seconds in 8:39.09. The Marshall softball team is currently ranked No. 7 in Division 3 of the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association (WFSCA) coaches poll. Wisconsin police chase, fatal crash; no charges for officer
DANE COUNTY, Wis. - The Wisconsin police officer involved in a pursuit that led to a fatal crash will not be criminally charged, officials announced on Friday, May 10. Monona police tried to stop a "suspicious vehicle" the night of Jan. 1, but the driver fled, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation said. The vehicle later crashed into a tree, and all three people inside died at the scene.
