    Track and field: Lake Mills boys tie for 4th at Raider Invite, Vesperman leads girls

    BELLEVILLE — Lake Mills’ boys track and field team tied for fourth place at Friday’s Raider Invitational held at Belleville High School.

    The L-Cats scored 65 points.

    The 3,200-meter relay team of senior Jack Phillips, sophomore Max Springer, junior Braxton Walter and junior Saul Lopez won by 15 seconds in 8:39.09. Walter was also third in the 3,200 in 11:08.43.

    Junior Thomas Cassady was third in the shot put with a mark of 48 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

    Springer was also fourth in the 400 in 54.83. The 1,600 relay team of Collin Christian, Chet Klawitter, Phillips and Springer was fourth in 3:43.64.

    Sophomore Ethan Gliniecki was fourth in the high jump (5-6).

    On the girls side for the L-Cats, senior Ava Vesperman took second in the 800 in 2:35.38.

    Lake Mills hosts the Capitol Conference meet on Tuesday.

    WEDNESDAY’S RESULTSMARSHALL — Lake Mills’ boys placed third and the girls finished tied for fifth at the Dana Waddell Invitational on Wednesday, May 8.

    Junior Mason Fuglestad won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet.

    The 3,200 relay team of senior Jack Phillips, sophomore Max Springer, junior Saul Lopez and sophomore Max Kressner won in 8:39.87. Phillips finished second in the 800 in 2:06.66 and Springer took third in the 400 in 54.60.

    Junior Thomas Cassady was second in the discus with a mark of 126-3 and freshman teammate Collin Christian took third (122-01). Cassady also placed second in the shot put (49-5).

    Senior Nathan Brzowski took second in the 110 hurdles in 17.31 and was third in the 300 hurdles (43.38).

    Junior Braxton Walter was third in the 1,600 in 4:59.20.

    For the L-Cat girls, senior Ava Vesperman won the 400 in 1:04.65 and took third in the 800 (2:37.14).

    Junior Savannah Overhouse won the 3,200 in 17:13.24.

    The 3,200 relay team of Overhouse, Asha Harold, Veronica Kressner and Nina Sehmer won in 11:47.12.

    Team scores — girls: Marshall 164, Columbus 132, Cambridge 114, Pardeeville 67, Lake Mills 51, Luther Prep 51, Deerfield 12.

    Team scores — boys: Marshall 171, Columbus 144, Lake Mills 127, Cambridge 115, Pardeeville 47, Luther Prep 14, Deerfield 5.
