Softball: Keyport Trounces Keansburg, 12-1
KEANSBURG, NJ -- Winning pitcher Danika Borza drove in five runs to lead Keyport to a 12-1 softball victory over Keansburg on Wednesday. Woodbridge Names Joe Goerge Varsity Football Coach
WOODBRIDGE, NJ -- The Woodbridge Board of Education has approved the hiring of Joe Goerge as the new varsity football coach at Woodbridge High School. The 69-year-old Goerge has had a long and storied career coaching several programs in central New Jersey, most recently at South Brunswick High School, where Goerge coached in 2022 and 2023. South Brunswick had a 5-5 record in each of the last two seasons.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Goerge replaces Joe LaSala, who resigned from his post at Woodbridge last month after compiling a 37-20 record from 2018-2023. The departure of LaSala, whose father, Benny, is the athletic director at Colonia High School, was met with a large online outcry from loyal former players of his. Goerge had a record of 63-17 including three sectional championships in his first tenure at South Brunswick from 2012-2018, and he won two sectional championships at Franklin High School in the 1990s. 11 Chargers to Compete in 2024 Penn Relays
SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The highlights keep coming for the Spotswood High School varsity track and field teams. Eleven Chargers have qualified and will be participating in the upcoming Penn Relays on Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27 at Franklin Park in Philadelphia. Spotswood's Kayla Louis, Theodora Xipolias, Janiyre Amegor, Teagan Jones, Cooper Ciak, Tristian Obriski, Nicholas Creighton, Kieran Barlow, Tyler Andre, Ghanashyma Craig and Christopher Velex will all be competing in the three-day event. The Penn Relays is the oldest and biggest track and field competition in the US. It's held every April and is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The competition features high school, collegiate, professional, and master relay competitions.
