Police: "Udder chaos" as cow spotted in Mundelein yard
CHICAGO (CBS) — Holy cow, neighbors in suburban Mundelein got quite a surprise Monday morning. The Mundelein Police Department reported "udder chaos" as a stray Highland cow was spotted in a yard. "Nothing gets you mooving on Monday like a stray cow call," police said in a Facebook post. Police said the bull is a "repeat offender" and has been returned to his owner. Highland cows are known for their long, shaggy hair. In April of 2023, a senior prank went awry when a loose cow trotted through a neighborhood in Niles. Police determined the students bought the cow and a pig on Craiglist. Police worked with Wagner Farms in nearby Glenview to secure the cow.

Through the Decades at the Elgin Club
This summer, the Elgin Club subdivision will celebrate 150 years on the lake’s north shore. Founded in 1874, Elgin Club is one of the oldest residential subdivisions on Geneva Lake. It was established when two fishermen from nearby Elgin, Illinois, bought 16 acres of lakefront property from John Wyckoff for just $400. The men recruited eight friends from their hometown and other nearby towns to help them purchase the parcel, naming it the “Lakeside Park Club of Elgin.” This was one of the first such associations established on Geneva Lake, and it helped to set the precedent for many others.
