Police: Woman steals steak, makeup from Walmart

Kelly Township, Pa. — A 35-year-old Watsontown woman allegedly took makeup and a steak from a Walmart store when she failed to scan them at the self-checkout. Olga Est Montilla-Trejo was charged for the alleged theft from Sept. 26 at the Lewisburg Walmart store. Trooper Mark Reasner of PSP Milton was called to investigate. Store personnel told police Montilla-Trejo was at a self-checkout but did not scan items. She instead picked them up and placed them back into her cart covering them with a plastic bag, according to the affidavit. While Montilla-Trejo was using the self-checkout, the system shut down the register she was using. Store staff directed her to use another self-checkout. Police say Montilla-Trejo continued to conceal items in her cart as she used the checkout. Store staff stopped Montilla-Trejo when she tried to leave the store. Staff took her into the office and found an unpaid sizzle steak and makeup in her cart worth $34. Montilla-Trejo provided her driver's license and current address before saying "sorry" and fleeing the store, according to the affidavit. Reasner noted Montilla-Trejo had a previous retail theft conviction from Nov. 3, 2025. Montilla-Trejo was charged with misdemeanor retail theft through the office

Several northcentral schools receive bomb threats Friday

State College, Pa. — Three schools in north-central Pennsylvania have reported receiving bomb threats by phone Friday morning, prompting evacuations and K-9 searches. State College Police said Mount Nittany Elementary School received a threatening call that was immediately reported. Investigators said the threat was not credible and is believed to have been a hoax “swatting” incident connected to similar calls at other schools across Pennsylvania. Out of caution, police provided a presence at schools throughout the district. At Renn Elementary in Lairdsville, East Lycoming School District Superintendent Dr. Gregory S. Scoggins said the school received a bomb threat call at approximately 8:35 a.m. Pennsylvania State Police were notified and the building was evacuated. Students were moved to an off-site location. When K-9 units needed additional time, the district began parent reunification. All students were reunited with parents or sent home on buses. Two bomb-sniffing K-9 units later cleared the building. The school was given an all-clear shortly after noon. No one was injured. In Lewisburg, the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department said an individual called Linntown Intermediate School and reported that a bomb had been placed inside. Bomb threat investigated at Union County school

Lewisburg, Pa. — A bomb threat reported today at Linntown Intermediate School is being investigated, the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department announced. Police were notified of the threat after an individual called the school and reported a bomb had been placed inside the building. Although regular classes were not scheduled for today, teachers, faculty, and staff were present at the school for scheduled parent-teacher conferences, police said. School administration promptly evacuated the building as a precaution. Public Safety Geisinger Regional K-9 Handler Vicki Housner responded and conducted a systematic search of the building with responding officers from the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department, assisted by the Union County Sheriff's Office, Milton Police Department, and Mifflinburg Police Department. No explosive devices or other dangerous items were located during the search. "The safety of students, school personnel, and the community remain our highest priority. The incident is being investigated, and efforts are underway to identify the individual responsible for making the threat," the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department said in a release. Susquehanna University announces free tuition for eligible students in 10 PA counties

Students in 10 Pennsylvania counties could have the opportunity to attend Susquehanna University tuition-free. The school in Selinsgrove, Snyder County, announced on Wednesday that the program will serve eligible residents of Centre, Columbia, Dauphin, Juniata, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder and Union counties. Students entering in fall 2027 from families earning an income of up to $100,000 can attend Susquehanna with their tuition fully covered.

Milton woman cited after Lycoming Mall Drive crash

Muncy Township, Pa. — A Milton driver was cited after state police said she pulled into the path of another car at a stop sign on Lycoming Mall Drive on Oct. 23. Gracie P. Guisewite, 21, was driving a 2020 Honda Civic and turning east onto Lycoming Mall Drive at its intersection with Generations Drive just before 6 p.m. She stopped at the stop sign and then entered the intersection without yielding to a westbound 2013 Honda CR-V driven by Jody K. Horn, 61, of Lewisburg, according to the crash report from state police at Montoursville. The Civic struck the CR-V, and both vehicles came to rest north of the intersection. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither was hurt. Both vehicles had to be towed, police said. Guisewite was cited for operating with a registration expired less than 60 days and for turning without safety or without signaling, according to the report.

Police: Pair sold drugs to undercover officer in Union County

Lewisburg, Pa. — A pair allegedly sold drugs to an undercover officer at least four times at various hotels in Union County. Dannile Kathl Gonzales, 36, of Milton, and Daniel Joseph Moss, 31, of Williamsport, were charged for allegedly selling marijuana wax and methamphetamine to the officer between Aug. 26 and Sept. 11. The first alleged sale took place on Aug. 26 at the Aderi Hotel, according to court documents. The officer texted Gonzales to arrange a sale. Gonzales refused to talk to the officer on her cell phone but agreed to meet them at the Aderi Hotel in East Buffalo Township. When the officer arrived at the hotel room, Gonzales was there along with Moss. The officer asked for methamphetamine, but Gonzales said she did not have any and instead sold them four grams of marijuana wax for $180, according to the affidavit. The officer texted Gonzales again on Sept. 2 and she agreed to meet them to sell 3.5 grams of methamphetamine for $180. Gonazles asked the officer to pick her up at the intersection of New Columbia and Creek roads in White Deer Township. Gonzales said she would have the officer drive her to her supplier and

PennDOT secretary visits Lewisburg roundabout site near U.S. 15

Lewisburg, Pa. — PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll visited the intersection of Hospital Drive and JPM Road in Kelly Township, Union County, where a roundabout is planned through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. Carroll met with local and elected officials at the site and discussed the planned work, which includes building a roundabout, widening and realigning the approach roads, adding signs and other improvements meant to improve traffic flow and safety, according to PennDOT. The $1.2 million project is aimed at improving access to medical facilities, stores and restaurants along U.S. 15, PennDOT said. Construction is expected in 2027. Shamokin, Pa. — A series of four separate shooting incidents in Shamokin and Coal Township over the past two months has prompted Northumberland County's district attorney and Shamokin police to address recent gun violence and the challenges of keeping local communities safe. DA Mike O'Donnell and Shamokin Police held a press conference Thursday to address recent gun violence in Shamokin and Coal Township. Four shooting incidents occurred in the last two months with a total of eight individuals being involved. O'Donnell said two of the shooting incidents involved mental health. The other two were reportedly in self-defense. Charges were filed against individuals involved in all four incidents. One of those recent incidents involved three people who were charged for an Aug. 30 shooting in Shamokin, including 50-year-old Anthony Carrington of Shamokin; 48-year-old Anjanette Carrington-McQueen of North Carolina; and 41-year-old Armando Yamil Reyes of Shamokin. The most recent shooting in Shamokin was on Oct. 18. Timothy Lee Wagner, 37, reportedly shot a relative of a woman he was following home from a bar.
