Air quality in Pittsburgh reached levels unhealthy for those with certain conditions Wednesday, as smoke from Canadian wildfires continued to pollute the Northeast. Measurements of PM2.5 hit 104 in Lawrenceville on Wednesday, which is considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups” by the Allegheny County Health Department. PM2.5 measures fine particulate matter, which are mixtures of solids and liquid droplets in the air that can be inhaled and contain hundreds of different chemicals.
