19-year-old who escaped from MacLaren in custody; one still at large
A 19-year-old who escaped with two others in February from MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn is in custody in Marion County. Julian Diaz-Navarro, of Salem, was arrested on an escape warrant and booked Tuesday into Marion County Jail. He was serving a sentence at MacLaren for attempted assault 1 and carry/use of a dangerous weapon and now faces new adult escape charges.
Downtown Salem street closures Saturday for anti-abortion rally
City officials announced a series of street closures coming Saturday to downtown Salem near the Capitol Mall. The permitted closures will be in effect throughout the day. and coincide with the Oregon Right to Life annual Oregon March for Life event. Walmart Wellness Day is Saturday
Woodburn Walmart will join other stores around the region in hosting Wellness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18 Free glucose, cholesterol, BMI and blood pressure screenings will be available, along with affordable immunizations for COVID-19, RSV, tetanus, hepatitis and HPV at the pharmacy. Additionally, professionals from the Northwest Hub will also be at the Woodburn Walmart from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to provide bicycle inspections for cyclists ages 5 to 16 years. Walmart, located at 3002 Stacy Allison Way, is joined in partnership for this event by the Woodburn Police, Woodburn Fire and Northwest Hub. It is scheduled to take place at the west end of the parking lot near the maple trees.
