FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Did you buy a Powerball ticket in Fredericksburg in November of last year? One lucky ticket won $50,000 in the Nov. 23 drawing, though no one has come forward, and the prize is nearing its expiration.

According to the Code of Virginia, winning tickets in the state expire 180 days after the drawing. For this ticket, the 180th day falls on a Saturday, when Virginia Lottery is closed, so the deadline is extended through the close of the next business day.

This means the ticket will become worthless at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

The Virginia Lottery said the ticket was bought at the Wawa located at 2390 Plank Road in Fredericksburg.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 2-21-38-61-66, and the Powerball number was 12. The ticket matched four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball number.

Unclaimed prizes, by law, got to Virginia’s Literary Fund, which provides low-interest loans to localities for public school construction, renovations and technology upgrades.

The Virginia Lottery urges whoever has the winning ticket to contact the Virginia Lottery immediately. There are eight customer service centers across the state where the ticket can be redeemed.
