Ride the Rockies 2024 Cancelled

Ride The Rockies 2024 has been cancelled.

Organizers blame low registration numbers.

The event is considered one of the most important cycling events in the Centennial State and is well known for its impact on rural and mountain towns' economic health.

"After careful consideration, we regret to announce that Ride The Rockies 2024 is being canceled due to limited registration," says a statement on RTR social media. "If you are registered, please check your inbox for additional information."

Riders who've registered will be getting refunds.

"A refund will automatically be processed back to the original payment method within 60 days of submission from EnMotive," the website notes. "In the event the refund cannot be processed to the original payment method, a check will be mailed to the address listed in the registration. You will also receive a commemorative jersey as a memento and token of our deep appreciation. Kindly email info@ridetherockies.com if you have any further questions."

The response from fans of the race (and there are many) was a mixture of sadness and regret.

"RTR was one of the best experiences I’ve had on a bike," wrote one former participant. "So so sorry to hear this!"

"Rest in Peace," another fan wrote. "Road Bike Events are dwindling. This is another example. Sad. My one and only was pretty miserable with many shortcomings including food and water. If nothing was done to change for the better this was immediately and one and done for me."

Instead of riding the Rockies, RTR suggests eager cyclists look into RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) and Tour of the Battenkill , a one-day event in Upstate New York.
