MOAB — When we talk about Utah's housing crisis, one of the most extreme examples is Moab. Housing there is scarce and expensive, especially for the workers who keep the tourist town running. But one new development aims to put a dent in the problem by creating more affordable...

Steven Cary McCandless was born on November 25, 1951, to Richard and Barbara (Koehler) McCandless in Burlington, Iowa. In the spring of 1954, the McCandless family moved west to Moab, where Steve grew up and attended school. Steve graduated from Grand County High School in 1970, then spent years working drill rigs for Ray Shumway and various other folks or climbing poles running cable in different areas. He even did his own small reclamation gig for a short time.

Public safety needs to be the priority, Scott Newton speaks up about high speeds on Main Street.
I tried to submit this comment yesterday on the City of Moab’s website but the link did not work. I recall Rani [Derasary] stating multiple times in council meetings that the link to Citizens to be Heard comments was not functioning. (Gives one the impression the City of Moab is not concerned about constituents’ comments.)

Utah is home to some of the nation’s darkest skies. Now Moab is hoping to join the ranks of Dark Sky-certified places. For the past four years, Utah Governor Spencer Cox has declared April “Utah Dark Sky Month.” According to his declaration, over 80% of Americans can’t view the Milky Way from their homes due to light pollution. But that’s not the case in the Beehive state. With 25 accredited Dark Sky locations, Utah leads the nation in number of certifications. Most recently, Castle Valley was named the fourth Dark Sky Community in Utah.
