Mother of kidnapped Albany boy speaks out
ALBANY, Ore. – After her 13-year old son was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in 2023, a mother is speaking up to share her story and offer advice to parents. The boy’s mother, who only wants to go by her first name of Brittany, remembered the night her 13-year old boy went missing. It was unusual to not hear from him, and when he was not at the friend’s house she dropped him off at she became scared. She went to law enforcement to report her son missing, and grew frustrated when they said they could not send out an Amber Alert.
Pedestrian who was hit by drunk driver dies
A pedestrian struck by a drunk driver early Saturday morning has died from his injuries. Frederico Pedro Pascual, 52, was hit near Northeast Halsey and 92nd around 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, including severe internal bleeding and head trauma, according to police records. Pascual was immediately taken into emergency surgery. The driver, 23-year-old Nicole Land, remained at the scene but responding officers determined she was intoxicated and arrested her. She smelled of alcohol and told police she had been drinking at a bar before driving and that she didn't see the pedestrian until it was too late. Land was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and assault in the second degree.
New details surface in officer-involved shooting on Interstate 5 in Linn County
COBURG, Ore. – New details have surfaced in a deadly officer-involved shooting last month in which one man died and a woman was injured. Court documents provide details on what investigators knew when they responded to a Shell gas station in Coburg near Interstate 5 on April 28 where police found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the front seat of a car. A search warrant affidavit filed in Lane County Circuit Court said that the male victim, Michael Glover, was in his 2001 grey Toyota Camry with his girlfriend and her brother, who is also Glover’s best friend, when Glover noticed his license plates were gone. Glover reported the theft just after 1 p.m. and less than two hours later, when Glover was at the Coburg Shell station, he spotted his plates on another older green Camry, the police officer’s report said.
