LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — A Lafayette man riding a bike was hit by a car on the Evangeline Thruway. The man remained hospitalized in critical condition on Thursday, April 25. The crash is prompting a warning from Lafayette police. They said the bicyclist was trying to cross the NW Evangeline Thruway near Chalmette Drive when he hit and critically hurt on Wednesday around 8:30 p.m.

Joshua Willis, 39, of Lafayette, is on trial for first-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Ashley Metz and second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Brouklynn Hill. Metz and Hill, who were dating, were found shot dead inside separate burning cars in the Scott and Carencro areas on June 21, 2016.
