Interrogation, jail call played during third day of Lafayette murder trial: 'I am not a killer'
The murder trial against a Lafayette man accused in two 2016 killings continued Wednesday with video and audio recordings of the defendant. Joshua Willis, 39, of Lafayette, is on trial for first-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Ashley Metz and second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Brouklynn Hill. Metz and Hill, who were dating, were found shot dead inside separate burning cars in the Scott and Carencro areas on June 21, 2016.

Lafayette police issue warning after 8th time pedestrian or bicyclist hit by vehicle
LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — A Lafayette man riding a bike was hit by a car on the Evangeline Thruway. The man remained hospitalized in critical condition on Thursday, April 25. The crash is prompting a warning from Lafayette police. They said the bicyclist was trying to cross the NW Evangeline Thruway near Chalmette Drive when he hit and critically hurt on Wednesday around 8:30 p.m.

It will be several weeks before a Lafayette judge decides whether a Scott homeowner is owed relief after her home was purchased at a tax sale that never should have happened. Evidence and testimony were presented in court Tuesday and Wednesday for the unusual case, which all started with a 2014 grass-cutting lien for about $400 on a vacant lot in Carencro that Theresa "Kim" Guillot once owned with her ex-husband. The lien that should have been filed against the Carencro property was instead filed by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office against the property where Guillot lives in Scott. Because of that error, a Duson-based real estate company was able to purchase Guillot's Scott property at a tax sale in 2015.
Man arrested after woman robbed at gunpoint in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — Lafayette police said a man accused of pulling a gun on a woman and stealing her vehicle has been arrested. According to police, Damion Foote, 37, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of armed robbery and identity theft on Thursday, April 25. His bond is set at $80,000.
