An Abbeville man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of conspiring to distribute fentanyl, federal officials said. Gabriel Hawthorne, 41, of Abbeville, was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Robert R. Summerhays on Wednesday. Hawthorne was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl by a jury in November, U.S. District Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana Brandon B. Brown said in a statement.
