Motorcyclists looking to support a great cause – protecting clean water – are invited to join the 21st annual “Ride for the River” on Saturday, May 18, an event that benefits the local conservation nonprofit Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA). The annual 60-mile “poker run” takes bikers on a scenic tour of rural backroads in the upper Raritan River watershed of Hunterdon, Somerset, and Morris counties. County-tournament time has come to North Jersey baseball, with action in Passaic County already underway and the Bergen bracket set to come out Wednesday. What makes this time of year fun is the opportunity to “compare notes”, so to speak, with where county coaches seed their teams. KENILWORTH, NJ — The Brearley Varsity Softball team is doing great, having successfully won the last two games. On Saturday, the Bears defeated Kent Place by a whooping 16-1, and on Tuesday afternoon they beat Summit 10-3. This boosts the team's current record to 9-7. Delbarton lacrosse will begin its Morris County Tournament title defense as the No. 1 seed. The Green Wave was recognized at the coaches' meeting on April 30. Transfer reversal: All-American wrestler to return to Rutgers
Yaraslau Slavikouski, an All-American wrestler for Rutgers in 2024, will stick to his word after after all. After finishing seventh in the 285-pound weight class the NCAA Championships in March, Slavikouski said he would use his final year of eligibility at Rutgers while pursuing his second Master’s degree. That plan changed about a month later when Slavikouski, surprisingly, entered the transfer portal on April 3.
Elizabeth Varsity Baseball Extends Win Streak to 5 Games With Victory Over Franklin
ELIZABETH, NJ - The Elizabeth High School Varsity Baseball Team extended their win streak to five games in a tight 4-3 game against Franklin on Saturday. Their latest win brings them to 11-2 on the season. Junior Eliezer Cepeda, senior Jordan Jones, and junior Ian Acevedo each recorded two hits for the Minutemen. Cepeda was also credited with the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and three walks, while striking out eight batters.
