Accumulating snow overnight, turning cooler but still seasonal
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Weather more typical of February is with us into the weekend before another warm stretch. Clouds increase into the evening ahead of our next system. By mid to late evening, around 8 or 9 o’clock, a narrow band of snow will likely develop out ahead of this system, running roughly from between Iowa Falls to Davenport. More snow fills in on either side of this band during the overnight hours, especially along and south of U.S. Highway 20. While most of the snow with this system falls overnight, some lingering snow showers could still be around for the Friday morning commute, especially for early-morning commuters. Plan accordingly for some slick spots on the morning drive. It’s been a while since many of us have had to deal with any this season, so make sure to use those old winter driving strategies: allow extra time to get there, give extra distance to stop (whether at intersections or between vehicles), and slow down. It is always a good idea to check on the latest road conditions before heading out as well. Should this bout of winter weather result in any delays, you can find those on our website and apps as well.
