Highway sign crashes through vehicle windshield in Cerro Gordo County
MASON CITY, Iowa – A highway marker sign smashed through the windshield of a minivan Tuesday evening. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 8 pm on Highway 18 at the off ramp to Highway 65. Deputies say Gerald Francis O’Connor, 83 of Mason City, was driving a 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan west, took the off ramp, drove off the south shoulder of the highway, and hit a reflective marker sign.
