Portland man loses half of his foot after salon pedicure, sues for $900K

A 40-year-old Portland man says he lost half of his foot after it became infected from unsterilized tools used during a pedicure he received at a local nail salon. Nathan Fields has filed a $913,000 lawsuit against Eden Salon & Spa, claiming that a nail technician “severely cut” his big toe during the March 2025 pedicure and that ultimately led to two amputations that carved away all of his toes and much of his foot.

Flu cases surge early in Oregon, hitting seniors hardest

LANE COUNTY, Ore. - Flu season is picking up months ahead of schedule in Oregon, with positive test rates and hospitalizations trending up. For the week of Oct. 25 through 31, the Oregon Health Authority reports the percentage of positive tests increased to more than 10%, up from less than 8% the week before. There have also been nearly 40 hospitalizations during that period.

Oregon Humane Wins Major Grant to Add Electric Vehicles

PORTLAND, OR – Oregon Humane will add electric vehicles to its outreach fleet after receiving a $332,460 grant from Portland General Electric’s Drive Change Fund. The nonprofit will use the funding to purchase two electric vans, two electric passenger vehicles and two dual charging stations for its Portland and Salem campuses. The new vehicles are scheduled to take to the road by early 2027.
