All rue21 stores to close

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The retail brand rue21 announced all its stores are going out of business. Of its over 500 locations, 10 are in New York State.

Locally, they can be found at the Mall at Greece Ridge, Marketplace Mall, and the Waterloo Outlets.

Rue21 employees say they found out a little over a week ago in an e-mail that all stores would be closing, and upper management had been fired. The team at Crossgates mall in Albany said the bankruptcy came out of the blue.

Employees say they have been told to focus on old products, which was troubling.

All stores are slated to close within two months.
