Gang Task Force Arrests Convicted Felon with Multiple Illegally Possessed Firearms
On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. , the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force assumed an investigation related to the illegal possession and trafficking of multiple firearms. Gang Task Force Officers responded to Box Canyon Road and Powerline Road in Mecca reference a traffic stop conducted by United States Border Patrol. During the traffic stop an adult male was detained after multiple illegally possessed firearms were located in his vehicle. The firearms included a 5.56mm Pistol, a 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbine, two 9mm semi-auto handguns and a .45 caliber semi-auto handgun. Gang Task Force took custody of the firearms and the suspect and subsequently identified the suspect as convicted felon, Salvador Gudino, 38 of Mecca.

Arrest Made For Attempted Murder
COACHELLA, CA – On February 17, 2023, Riverside Sheriff’s Thermal Station responded to a shooting on Grapefruit Boulevard in Coachella. When they arrived, they found several shell casings in the area, but no injuries were reported, and no businesses were hit. The Thermal Station Special Investigations Unit took over the case and, during their investigation, they discovered that two juveniles were the victims, while the suspects were identified as 19-year-old Salomon Cruz-Rodriguez Jr. and a 14-year-old juvenile, both Coachella residents.
Five people arrested in connection with Indio shooting in January
Indio police arrested five people, including three minors, on attempted murder charges Monday in connection with a shooting that occurred in mid-January. Members of the police department’s street and major crimes units served search warrants early Monday at several homes in Coachella, Indio and La Quinta, finding eight firearms and more than 5,000 fentanyl pills during the operation.
