Traphill woman charged with attempted murder
A 39-year old woman is facing multiple charges after stabbing a man on April 26. According to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 224 Lovette Lane in the Traphill Community in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies learned the victim was en route to Hugh Chatham Hospital in a personal vehicle. After further investigation deputies learned this was a domestic situation and Selena Lovette was charged and arrested for attempted first-degree murder, misdemeanor domestic violence, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and misdemeanor child abuse. The individual who was stabbed has been identified as 42-year old Joel Spicer. Authorities said he was treated and released the same day.

Utility lines blocking West Pine Street
Surry County Emergency Management has dispatched resources to the area of West Pine Street at Maple Hollow Road for what was initially reported as power lines blocking the roadway. At approximately 4:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon first responders reported that the roadway was fully blocked. The line in question appears to be a telephone line but were asking for additional assistance to ascertain potential danger, they said. Drivers are encouraged to find another route.
Wilkes Commissioner facing assault on a female, trespassing charges
Wilkes County Commissioner Stoney Scott Greene turned himself in Monday at the Wilkes County Magistrates office where he was served with two private party warrants. Greene was charged with one count of Assault on a Female and one count of Domestic Criminal Trespass. He was released on a $1500 unsecure bond, according to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office. Greene has made headlines in recent months after he was outed by an animal rights group for his involvement in dogfighting some years ago in another state....
Two charged with trafficking methamphetamine
JEFFERSON — Ashe County Sheriff B. Phil Howell announces the arrest of 55-year-old Everett Dee Sawyer of New Castle, Delaware, and 27-year-old Mason Malik Hamilton of North Wilkesboro. On April 18, Deputy Cody Dancy performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Everette Sawyer, who did not have a valid NC driver’s license.
