First day of trial for two men accused of killing Toledo teens reveals possible motive, connections of numerous suspects
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Disturbing details have been unveiled in the trial of two men accused of kidnapping and brutally killing two Toledo teens. Charles Walker and Brent Kohlhoffer are charged with two counts of Aggravated Murder and two counts of Kidnapping in the deaths of Ke’Marion Wilder and Kyshawn Pittman, whose bodies were found in a burned down home on Chase Street in Decemeber 2022. Walker and Kohlhoffer are just two of nearly a dozen people who were charged in connection to the case.

Man stabbed in downtown Toledo
A man was stabbed in the road in the 500 block of North Superior Street, outside of The Blade’s downtown building about 9:30 a.m. Friday. The victim was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center with serious injuries and a suspect was in custody, Toledo police said. A witness said she and the victim had gotten off the bus together with another man, who was behaving erratically and became incensed when she and the victim attempted to pass him on the sidewalk. Monroe man arrested after allegedly robbing party store in Ida Twp.
IDA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WTVG) - A Monroe man was arrested following an alleged armed robbery at a party store in Ida Township over the weekend. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, on April 27 around 1:45 p.m., a man wearing a facemask, coveralls and gloves entered Ida Party Stop, located at 2896 Lewis Ave. While inside, the man allegedly implied he had a weapon while he demanded money. A store employee gave the man the money before he ran outside to a vehicle that was waiting nearby.

Blissfield man dies in ORV crash south of Palmyra
BLISSFIELD TWP. — A Blissfield man died Saturday after his off-road vehicle crashed in a field south of Palmyra. Troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to the 7000 block of Scott Highway, according to a release from the Monroe MSP Post. Troopers determined a yellow Honda side-by-side was traveling southbound in the field when the driver lost control. The ORV rolled over multiple times.
2 bridges over U.S. 23 closing for construction in southern Washtenaw County
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - Two bridges crossing U.S. 23 in southern Washtenaw County will be closing for weeks to allow for maintenance projects to be completed, officials say. The County Street bridge in Milan and the Willow Road bridge just north of the city in York Township will each be shuttered to all traffic beginning 7 a.m. Monday, May 6, according to an announcement from the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Trial starts for men accused of murdering missing teens in 2022
After a full day of jury selection Thursday, the aggravated murder trial of Brent A. Kohlhofer, 42, and Charles C. Walker, 34, who are accused of kidnapping and murdering two teenage boys in late 2022, started Friday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. The bodies of Kyshawn Pittman, 15, and Ke’Marion Wilder, 16, were found in the ruins of a burnt-out home at 3015 Chase St. on Dec. 16, 2022, 11 days after the house burned, and 13 days after they were reported missing. While more than half a dozen people were initially charged for their roles in the boys’ disappearance, only Walker and Kohlhofer are on trial. In January, Cruz Garcia, 25, pled guilty to two counts apiece of involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping. Corbin Gingrich, 27, made a plea under seal before Judge Lori Olender on April 25. Both men are expected to be key witnesses against Walker and Kohlhofer.
EPA provides update on Ottawa Lake diesel spill
OTTAWA LAKE, Michigan — The U.S. EPA provided an update to cleanup efforts at the site of a March diesel spill in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. According to the May 2 update, the EPA has recovered almost 30,000 gallons of diesel, which leaked from a diesel fuel tank underneath a Pilot gas station into the area around Tenmile Creek between US 23 and US 223. The EPA said nearly 500,000 gallons of a mixture of oil and water remain on site; meanwhile, nearly 2 million gallons of liquids total have been removed from the site and sent to a disposal facility.
City of Toledo seeking public input on Secor Road redesign
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The City of Toledo Department of Transportation is seeking public input on its Secor Road redesign. TDOT says it will host a community meeting too discuss and gather feedback on the redesign of Secor Road between Central Avenue and Kenwood. The meeting will take place on May 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Sanger Branch Library located at 3030 Central Ave.
