Local Trial Court Judge Subject Of Complaints To State Judicial Tenure Commission And AG Nessel
The Ann Arbor Independent received documents that show the Honorable Tracy E. Van den Bergh of the Washtenaw County 22nd Circuit Court is the subject of a complaint filed with the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission (JTC) and another complaint filed with Michigan AG Dana Nessel. Judge Van den Bergh, who ran twice for the 22nd Circuit Court, won her seat in Nov. 2020. The complaints stem from the same case involving a lawyer who works for the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office, Marieh Tanha. Court records show that Tanha and her husband David Mathieu sought a divorce in Dec. 2021.

Dexter Township completes first land preservation project
The Dexter Township Farmland and Open Space Preservation Program recently closed its first project, a conservation easement purchase on the Monier-Van Gorder property. The property is just over 70 acres in size and borders the popular 275 acre Washtenaw County West Lake Preserve on its west side, with almost 2,000 feet of common boundary. It is comprised almost entirely of prime and locally important agricultural soils, along with 10 acres of woods and four acres of wetlands. The conservation easement ensures that the land will never be developed but it remains in private ownership and is not open to the public.
Weekly Safety Report: Shots Fired, Altercation, Bomb Threat, Assault, and Juvenile Theft in Washtenaw County, Michigan
This week in Washtenaw County, Michigan, several incidents occurred that required police investigation. Shots were fired at a residence in Superior Township, causing damage to the building but no injuries. In another incident, a man was shot and another was hit by a car during an altercation in an Ann Arbor-area Meijer parking lot. A bomb threat was reported at a Dollar Tree store in Chelsea, but no evidence of a bomb was found. Additionally, a woman was charged with assault after pepper spraying two employees at an Ann Arbor grocery store. Lastly, a 12-year-old boy stole a forklift and led police on a chase in Michigan.
