BLISSFIELD TWP. — A Blissfield man died Saturday after his off-road vehicle crashed in a field south of Palmyra.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to the 7000 block of Scott Highway, according to a release from the Monroe MSP Post. Troopers determined a yellow Honda side-by-side was traveling southbound in the field when the driver lost control. The ORV rolled over multiple times.

The driver, a 33-year-old Blissfield man, was transported via ambulance to ProMedica Hickman Hospital in Adrian Township, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The passenger in the ORV, a 33-year-old Morenci woman, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hickman to be evaluated.

Police did not release the names of the victims. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, officials said.

MSP was assisted by the Madison Township Fire Department.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Trooper Justin Ott at 734-242-3500.
