Paul McCartney guitarist to spotlight desert bands at Plaza Theatre

Performing in a historic venue like The Plaza Theatre is memorable for any artist, but it's an absolute dream come true for small local bands. That's exactly what's planned for three Coachella Valley groups in an upcoming event designed to unify the local music scene. Paul McCartney guitarist and Palm Springs resident Brian Ray , along with local musician Matt King, will present the new showcase "Desert Scene" on Friday, Nov. 20 at The Plaza Theatre, featuring Cafe Canela , Burgundy Blues , and Giselle Woo and the Night Owls . During a recent interview at The Plaza Theatre, King described the opportunity to work with Ray on putting together the show as "such an honor." "When Brian reached out with this opportunity, I was so taken aback. I mean, this stage has been for legends. This stage has been for artists that people are traveling to see, and the fact that a local stage here is actually giving the opportunity to local bands is something that really doesn't happen too often here in the desert.
