Armed Robbery with a Firearm at Separate Gas Stations
On June 07, 2023, at 1:10 A.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 16000 block of Perris Blvd., in the City of Moreno Valley. A black male adult entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk. The suspect fled the location on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a black male adult, wearing a white hoodie with navy blue shirt over it, a blue surgical mask, black pants, and white Croc type shoes. At 1:40 A.M., an additional armed robbery was reported in the 13000 block of Perris Blvd. The suspect was identified as the same suspect from the earlier armed robbery. There were no items successfully taken from the second armed robbery and the suspect fled the location northbound on foot. The suspect is still outstanding and considered armed and dangerous. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.

Funeral procession held for fallen Riverside County sheriff's deputy Brett Harris
MENIFEE, Calif. - A procession was held Wednesday for fallen Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Brett Harris, who was killed in the line of duty last month. The 27-year-old was responding to a call when he collided with another vehicle in San Jacinto. Harris was trapped in the wreckage and a second deputy was injured trying to save him, officials said. Once paramedics arrived at the scene, Harris was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition and the second deputy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man Targets MoVal Stores in Back-to-Back Robberies
MORENO VALLEY (CNS) – A man held up two businesses inside of an hour Wednesday in Moreno Valley, but he eluded capture. The first armed robbery occurred shortly after 1 a.m. at a convenience store in the 16000 block of Perris Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Fatal Traffic Collision
On June 1, 2023, about 10:45 pm, deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station, were dispatched to a major injury traffic collision near the 14000 block of Elsworth Street. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and located a black Toyota sedan with major collision damage and a blue Semi-tractor trailer with minor damage. The driver and sole occupant of the black Toyota sustained major injuries and succumbed to the injuries at the scene. The driver of the blue Semi-tractor trailer was not injured and remained at the scene. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the black Toyota was traveling northbound on Elsworth Street when it collided into the rear of the Semi-tractor trailer.
House Fire Reveals Illegal Marijuana Grow
On Sunday, June 4, 2023, about 7:00 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a house fire in the 15000 block of Carolina Avenue. CalFire also responded and extinguished the flames preventing the fire from traveling to neighboring homes. It appeared the fire started due to an illegal electrical bypass used to power an illegal marijuana grow. Deputies authored and served a search warrant at the residence, where they located evidence of an illegal marijuana grow operation. Moreno Valley Code Enforcement was contacted and will conduct a separate investigation into the safety of the structure and the marijuana operation. No one was in the home at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries. There are no suspects in custody at this time; the investigation is ongoing.

Shooting Investigation / Attempt Murder
On June 1, 2023, at 7:00 a.m., search warrants were served at the 23800 block of Nanwood Drive; 23300 block of Rolanda Drive; 13400 block of Elsworth Street; and two locations on the 24100 block of Cottonwood Avenue, all in the city of Moreno Valley. These warrants were served with the assistance of Special Enforcement Teams from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Mathews Station, Lake Elsinore Station, Jurupa Valley Station, Perris Station, and San Jacinto Station, along with assistance from Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau- SWAT and Aviation Teams. As a result of the search warrants, numerous items of evidence were recovered.
Railroad projects in Riverside County receive federal funds
Two railroad grade separation projects in Riverside County were among dozens nationwide awarded millions in federal funds, it was announced Monday.
