MEDFORD MAN JAILED AFTER POLICE CHASE

An Oregon State Police report said at about 7:15 p.m. a trooper attempted to stop a sports car on Highway 38 about a mile and a half west of Elkton. After initially disengaging with the vehicle, a pursuit was initiated. The sports car ultimately left the roadway, after losing multiple tires. The 32-year old driver was arrested and charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle and for reckless driving. Bail was set at $12,000.

Thomas Anthony Murphy II was found guilty on all counts Thursday in the fatal shooting of a Grants Pass man in Central Point in 2022. A Jackson County Circuit Court jury deliberated for four-and-a-half hours after the four-day trial. The jury found the 38-year-old Medford man guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of Nicholas Steven Davis on Oct. 13, 2022.
