Plenty of discussion at Sedgwick County Commission meetings

At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission agenda features only a few items of business, but that doesn't mean it will be a short meeting. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News the commissioners like to share their thoughts, and there have been some important issues to talk over. Baty says the county tries to "have a lot of conversations from the bench," encouraging "transparency."

Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems, Wichita's largest employer, have been in the news concerning production problems and production showdowns on the 737 Max. Spirit manufactures most of the aircraft. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty says he realizes people are concerned, but there's more good than bad to talk about when it comes to economic development in this community. He realizes people are concerned over the two companies discussing a merger.
