Mobile home total loss after fire west of Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A mobile home is considered a total loss after a fire that claimed the life of a cat west of Wichita Monday morning.

According to Sedgwick County Fire District 1 , crews from SCFD1 and the Wichita Fire Department responded around 11 a.m. to the report of a house fire near West Kellogg Avenue and South 167th Street West.

SCFD1 says the fire started in a bedroom in the south part of the home.

Other than the cat, no other injuries were reported.

The Sedgwick County Fire Department estimates the damage to the home at $35,000.

The SCFD says an electrical malfunction sparked the fire.
