    Two dead following house fire in West Virginia

    WALKER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people are dead following a house fire in West Virginia.

    According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 12:39 PM, 911 dispatched first responders to 389 Morgan Ridge Road in Walker regarding a structure fire.

    Fire department units from Deerwalk, Waverly, and Eastwood responded to the scene and engaged in an active fire that had partially engulfed the single-story residence.

    As the fire was brought under control firefighters gained entry of the residence and discovered two persons inside the structure, both deceased.

    The victims were identified as James Clifton Bailey 41, and Felicia Jean Goff, 40, both of whom resided in the home.

    Members of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Fire Marshal, and the Wood County Fire Investigation Team (FIT) were also dispatched to the scene of the fire.

    A subsequent investigation revealed that the victims were deceased prior to the setting of the fire.

    This incident is being investigated by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
