Mount Hope excited to expand city’s boundaries with Appalachian Heights site
MOUNT HOPE, WV (WOAY) – The city of Mount Hope recently made an intergovernmental agreement with Raleigh County regarding the Appalachian Heights site. Mayor Michael Kessinger calls it a positive step that they annexed Route 19 south into Raleigh at the North Beckley exit, expanding the city’s boundaries and the pipe yard adjacent to 19 to the right.

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A coal miner who was injured at a southern West Virginia mine earlier this month has died, the state’s governor said Wednesday. Ashley Cogar, 33, of Erbacon, W.Va., died Wednesday morning from injuries suffered in a mining incident on July 12 at the Wyco Surface Mine in Raleigh County, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
