The severe weather threat for New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas have increased for Monday night, according to noon update from the National Weather Service forecasters. Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms were in the forecast. The first round pelted the northshore and Mississippi Coast with heavy rains and strong wind gusts, leading to some power outages in Slidell and in Pearl River County.

Storm threat tonight, then quieter into mid week
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A threat for localized active weather will remain in place this evening and early tonight. A cluster of t-storms will be moving through the local area between 6-10 PM. Embedded within this cluster could be some strong/severe/heavy t-storms. These storms could produce all modes of severe, but damaging wind remains the main concern. Low lying, flood prone areas could see some standing water. Rain amounts for most will average around or less than 1″. The storm threat will come to an end by midnight.
