Nebraska AD makes modifications to Memorial Stadium renovation timeline and project plans
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska AD Troy Dannen announced the Memorial Stadium renovation timeline and project plans are undergoing some major changes. Dannen met with the Board of Regents committees Thursday and ultimately decided the South Stadium will not be torn down following the 2024 season. Instead, Nebraska plans to turn their immediate focus to designing and planning improvements for the East and West Stadiums, with a target to begin work on the East and West no earlier than after the 2025 season.
Former Arizona State commit considering visit to Nebraska
A four-star safety in the class of 2025 has decommitted from the Arizona State Sun Devils. Rylon Dillard-Allen made the initial commitment on April 22. Nebraska and Alabama competing for top linebacker
A top linebacker in the class of 2025 has confirmed that he’s down to his final two schools before announcing his commitment. Dawson Merritt has named Nebraska and Alabama as the finalists. Merritt plays for Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kansas. Last season, the four-star prospect recorded 83 tackles, 17 for loss, and seven sacks. He has previously told Chad Simmons of the On3 network that his close relationship with the staff has played a significant role in Nebraska’s status as a finalist. Merritt has even confirmed that he’s heard from a certain Nebraska quarterback. “My relationship with that whole staff is different. I’m close to a lot of guys on the defensive staff. Me and Dylan Raiola have had a recent connection.” Merritt officially visited Nebraska for the spring game and the end of April. He’s planning a visit to Tuscaloosa on June 7, with an announcement expected shortly afterward. Huskers earn 53 Regional Bids on Thursday
Nebraska track and field earned 53 bids to the NCAA West Preliminary Round, set for May 22-25 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark. Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective events earned berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round, as well as the 24 best relay times.At the NCAA West Preliminary Round, the top 12 competitors from each individual event and the top 12 teams from each relay event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted in Eugene, Ore. The list of qualifiers from each event contested in the first rounds will be announced by 4 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, May 26. The final list of the championships competition participants will be announced by 2 p.m. (CT) on Tuesday, May 28.
