MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A man has been killed after being hit by a garbage truck Wednesday morning near Mesa. The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. near Broadway and Ellsworth roads. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to find a man with serious injuries lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New court documents detail what led up to an ambush that left a Phoenix police officer seriously hurt last month. On March 29, several officers responded to the Brunch House near 35th and Southern avenues after receiving a call from an off-duty Phoenix police officer requesting emergency assistance. As additional officers arrived, they found Officer Harold Boswell had been shot multiple times. He remained in the hospital for several days and was released on April 1.
Home heavily damaged after first-alarm fire in east Phoenix
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Fire crews from Phoenix and Tempe are working to extinguish hot spots at an east Phoenix home that caught fire late Wednesday morning. The fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. at a house on East Holly Street, near 32nd Street and McDowell Road. Smoke was initially visible for miles, and crews arrived to find heavy fire in the backyard that was spreading into the home. The call was quickly upgraded to a first-alarm response, requesting additional crews and equipment.
