CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. — Drinking water in the Chino Valley area does not appear to be threatened by a fuel release reported by Circle K earlier this year. An estimated 86,000 gallons of unleaded gasoline was reportedly released into the environment from a Circle K underground storage tank in Chino Valley. Phoenix pedestrian dead after hit by car, driver left on foot
PHOENIX — A man was fatally struck by a car Thursday night and Phoenix police are trying to identify the driver who hit him. The pedestrian was crossing Camelback Road near 34th Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a car driving west on Camelback, according to Phoenix police. The injured man was taken to the hospital and later died.
Phoenix police say suspect in fatal shooting fled
PHOENIX — Police said a suspect involved in a deadly shooting that occurred in west Phoenix fled the scene before officers' arrival, the city's police department said. Phoenix police responded to a neighborhood near McDowell Road and 51st Avenue for a shooting on Wednesday morning. Officers found Jose Olvera, 62, suffering from a critical injury at the scene.

Scottsdale firefighters help group of lost hikers, 1 child taken to hospital
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz — The Scottsdale Fire Department assisted a group of distressed hikers Friday morning at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Up to 13 hikers reported being lost and running low on water. When the technical rescue team located the group, a 10-year-old girl was treated for heat exhaustion and taken to the hospital. The girl appears to be in good condition, the fire department said.
