Vacant grocery space on Hartnell Avenue finally leased out after sitting empty since 2014
Empty for more than a decade, the former Raley’s supermarket and anchor space in the Cobblestone Shopping Center in Redding has been leased out to a family entertainment business. Ethan Conrad Properties, the center’s landlord, announced the big news on Facebook late last week. “We’re excited to announce that Fun City Trampoline Park is bouncing into the Cobblestone Shopping Center in Redding!” the post said. “This milestone deal brings new energy and entertainment to the Redding community,” the post added. Fun City is expected to open in early 2026, said Ravjeet Basi, as a senior associate at Ethan Conrad Properties. The owners of Fun City couldn't be reached for comment. The 45,500-square-foot space on Hartnell Avenue has been empty since April 2014, when Raley’s closed after 30 years there. At the time, Raley’s said it had decided to focus on its Lake Boulevard location because it was a newer store. The company also cited declining sales, increased competition and costs for improvements to the space as reasons for closing. The grocer’s departure has left a large hole, and the center has struggled to recover ever since. The vacant grocery store came in second in a Record Searchlight readers’ poll of

Apparently that applies to homebuyers as well: a new study by LendingTree shows that in the 29 metros with the highest wildfire risk, only two had a higher rate of people moving out than moving in.
