50-acre prescribed burn conducted near Mt. Shasta over next couple weeks
CALIFORNIA - CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit is planning a 50-acre prescribed burn about 2.5 miles northwest of Mt. Shasta City near the base of Mt. Eddy over the next several weeks. According to CAL FIRE, the exact burn day depends on weather, fuel conditions and resources availability. The project will help reduce hazardous vegetation, improve forest and watershed health, enhance wildlife habitat and provide valuable training opportunities for firefighters while reducing the risk of future destructive wildfires.
