Shasta County voters favor new election measures

One measure decided by Shasta County voters appears to be on its way to revamping how open positions can be filled should one of Shasta County's elected department heads leave before the end of their term. Early results also are pointing to strong voter approval of a second measure, which will decide whether changes are coming to the county's charter governing eminent domain — a policy allowing the government to acquire private property without the owner's consent in some cases. Preliminary results after the Nov. 3 election showed Measure F, which outlines changes to filling department head vacancies, had received a 67.53% yes vote and 32.47% no votes, according to the Shasta County Elections Office. Measure E, to adopt changes to the eminent domain process, had received a 65.66% yes vote and 33.34% no vote in early results. The Shasta County Board of Supervisors supported Measures E and F.
