Yemeni coffee spot for Rockville

Haraz Coffee House, a Michigan-based chain specializing in Yemeni-style drinks and sweets, is heading to Rockville’s Federal Plaza. It’s taking over the long-empty space that once belonged to the Chinese restaurant Seven Seas, which closed in 2018 after 31 years. Haraz, which has grown to more than 60 locations since it launched in 2021, is named for a village in Yemen where its beans are sourced. Along with a long list of coffees, the menu also includes matcha drinks, fruit refreshers, Adeni (spiced milk) tea and halal pastries. Haraz is the second Middle Eastern coffee chain to expand to our area this year, following the recent debut of Saudi-style Shotted at Westfield Montgomery mall.

The top seed in the 2A-1A East, Easton (9-0) leads the way for Eastern Shore squads behind one of the state's top passing attacks with senior QB Brady Walls already over 1,400 yards in the air, most going to senior WR Jadereon Thompson for 751 yards — the third-highest receiving-yards total in the state. Senior RB Jazir Dickerson has added 80 points on the ground, with junior Jamier Copper putting up 54 to fuel Easton's rushing game. Queen Anne's County knocked out Easton in last season's second round on its way to state quarterfinals. The Lions are back in this year's postseason as the Class 2A-1A East No. 5 seed after a two-win regular season. Decatur has the chance to add to its impressive playoff resume from recent years.
