    Bicyclist killed in Tippecanoe County by juvenile driver

    UPDATE (5/13/2024): The bicyclist killed in this crash was identified by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office as 20-year-old Jacob Devine of Towson, Maryland. Purdue University confirmed Devine was in his junior year of studying aeronautical and astronautical engineering. His cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries due to a car crash.

    TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — A bicyclist was struck and killed in Tippecanoe County by a juvenile driver on Friday night.

    According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday at 11:58 p.m., officials responded to a personal injury crash scene in the 6300 block of State Road 26 West. Emergency responders found a male bicyclist who had been struck and killed.

    Law enforcement’s preliminary investigation indicates that a 2005 Toyota Forerunner, driven by a male juvenile, was traveling west when it struck an eastbound cyclist.

    The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner will release the identity of the victim.

    The roadway was closed for approximately four hours.
