Three suspects sought in Berkeley armed robbery
Police on Saturday were searching for three suspects who brandished a gun and robbed a woman near the University of California, Berkeley. The three suspects surrounded the woman just after 8:25 p.m. on Friday in the 2400 block of Bowditch Street, about a block away from People's Park, according to the University of California Police Department. One of the suspects "displayed a gun" before the three took the woman's cellphone and purse, then fled the scene in a black sedan resembling an Audi, police said. A description of the suspects was not available, but police noted they were last seen heading northbound on Bowditch Street toward the university. No injuries were reported in the robbery. SAN FRANCISCO -- A group of people, one of them allegedly armed with a gun, surrounded and robbed a person near People's Park in the 2400 block of Bowditch Street in Berkeley, police said in a social media posting.The group of about three suspects took the victim's purse and cell phone about 8:27 p.m. Friday, police said.The suspects left the area in a black Audi-style sedan, northbound on Bowditch Street. Multi-vehicle crash causes huge backup on westbound Bay Bridge Saturday afternoon
SAN FRANCISCO -- Multiple westbound lanes Interstate 80 on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge were blocked for hours Saturday afternoon in the wake of a crash involving multiple vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash happened west of Treasure Island on the bridge, initially closing the three right-hand lanes. Westbound traffic was backed up about seven miles into Emeryville shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday as CHP officers investigated the crash and awaited tow trucks that were on the way."The public is advised to expect delays and take alternate routes," said CHP Officer Mark Andrews.CHP confirmed that the crash may have been related to a pursuit.All three lanes were open around 2:30 p.m. but delays continued into the late afternoon.

Family of man fatally shot by Walgreens security guard files $25M wrongful death lawsuit
(SAN FRANCISCO) -- The family of a man fatally shot by a security guard in a San Francisco Walgreens last month during an apparent shoplifting altercation has filed a $25 million wrongful death lawsuit. Banko Brown, 24, died on April 27 following an altercation with the guard, police said. The guard, 33-year-old Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony, has not been charged in the shooting. Attorneys for Banko's parents announced Friday they have filed a civil lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court against Walgreens, Anthony and Kingdom Group Protective Services, which provides security for Walgreens and employs Anthony. "Deadly force was not the way to handle this," civil rights attorney John Burris told reporters during a Friday press briefing, calling it a "petty theft situation."
