PLEASANTON -- An East Bay community was in shock after a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday night killed a family of four, including two children under the age of 15.Friends of the family stopped by the crash site on Foothill Road in Pleasanton Thursday to mourn the loss.The accident happened around 9 p.m. on Foothill Road near Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton.A neighbor told KPIX the family was on their way home after visiting friends. Concord police search for man who grabbed girl's arm on way to middle school
Concord police are looking for a man who allegedly grabbed the arm of a middle school student near a parked car on Wednesday.Police said the girl was walking to school in the area of Nuala Street and Dartmouth Way around 7:10 a.m. when a man reportedly grabbed her arm while trying to open the door to a parked vehicle. The girl said she was fought the man off and notified school staff and police. She was not physically injured.The suspect was described as a shorter white man who is about 50 years old with a bald head and heavy build. He was associated with a small black sedan.Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing video surveillance. House boat burns on Lake Berryessa
A houseboat went up in flames on Lake Berryessa in Napa County Wednesday, authorities said.The Napa County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Thursday that its Marine Unit about a houseboat on fire which was docked at the Markley Cove houseboat slips just west of State Road 128 at the east end of the lake.The houseboat was cut loose to prevent the fire from spreading, the Sheriff's Office said. Cal Fire and Capell Fire helped put out the flames and there were injuries. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Wedding dress recovered, arrest made after package theft in Redwood City
REDWOOD CITY – Nearly two weeks after a wedding dress was stolen during a package theft caught on camera in Redwood City, police announced an arrest in the case.On the night of April 11, the suspect was seen stealing multiple packages off the porch of a home on Adams Street. According to officers, one of the packages included a wedding dress that was worth an estimated $2,000.Following the thefts, police released surveillance photos and video of the suspected package thief."We received multiple tips from residents which led us to identify and arrest the suspect," police said in an update Wednesday.Officers announced that 65-year-old Henry Fonseca of Redwood City was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of grand theft. According to jail records, Fonseca is being held on $10,000 bail.Police said the dress was found by a concerned citizen and was returned to its rightful owner."We appreciate everyone's help in solving this crime," the department said on social media.Authorities did not say when Fonseca would appear in court.
